Originally inspired by a painting I created for a college assignment, nose paintings are playful alternatives to traditional full-body portraits.
This “Nose Series” started as an experiment to see how different noses looked with different colored backgrounds. I had six panels to paint on so I decided that the background colors would mimic how horse show ribbons are colored (with the 6th place color appearing more seafoam green in its painting). Some of the noses were inspired by horses I’ve met at shows or whose owners I follow on social media.
